Join Jennifer Wu, Canon Explorer of Light, in Hawaii for four days of photographing abundant waterfalls, lush botanical gardens, black sand beaches and the amazing night sky. The Big Island of Hawaii is a photographer’s paradise. We will explore the diverse scenery from fern forests to beautiful palm tree lined beaches and lava fields. Photograph the rising sun over the ocean surf or delicate tropical flowers. Jennifer will discus tips for photographing the ocean and long exposures of the waves. You are sure to come away with many new photography skills and incredible images.
The workshop is balance with lectures and critiques during the day and photography sessions in the morning and evening. There will be little down time but it will be worth the effort!
Jennifer will take you to breathtaking locations, including Mauna Kea, which is one of her favorite places to photograph the stars. The summit is at 13,796 feet. We will stop along the way to acclimate to help prevent altitude sickness.
- Create compelling compositions in nature
- Custom camera settings and operations for nature photography
- Critiques to open your eyes and improve your photographic skills
- Techniques for using filters and reflectors

Attendees should have a basic working knowledge of their camera as well as how to use manual mode, using f/stop and shutter speeds and downloading images to your computer. Basic Photoshop or Lightroom skills are recommended. This workshop is for photographers looking to learn more about nature photography composition. There will be some light hiking on unlevel ground for about one (1) mile.
