ex·po·sure [ik-spoh-zher]
noun
the act of exposing
By definition “the act of exposing” isn’t very clear is it?
his·to·gram [his-tuh-gram]
noun
a graph of a frequency distribution in which rectangles with bases on the horizontal axis are given widths equal to the class intervals and heights equal to the corresponding frequencies.
And this definition of histograms is much clearer right? Don’t worry, we’ll help you out. It’s not very complicated when it’s explained properly which is what tonight’s class is all about!
Have you ever wondered why some pictures come out exposed well and others don’t? Achieving proper exposure consistently can be a daunting task. You have to keep your eye on the subject and look after many other camera functions simultaneously so it’s certainly not an easy proposition especially if your subject is moving! This evening’s program will demystify exposure and also uncover a tool called the Histogram to allow you far better control of exposure than you ever imagined. We’ll talk about what the light meter in your camera does and what it can’t do so you’re better prepared to make adjustments BEFORE you ever take a picture. We’ll give you the confidence to look at a scene and have a very good idea what type of adjustments to make to preserve every bit of detail possible. This three-hour class will improve your photography, literally, overnight and is worthwhile to attend even for seasoned pros.
What you will learn:
- How your camera’s light meter works
- Get an understanding of when to use exposure compensation
- How to look at a scene and determine where to take light meter readings for optimum exposure

- Metering types and when to use one over another
