Ralph Lee Hopkins travels to to the world’s wild places with Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. A dedicated Canon photographer, Ralph relies on an arsenal of lenses that he carries in a sling bag for easy access. His go-to camera bodies are the 1D X and 5D Mark III paired with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. For the Canon-sponsored Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Workshop, he’ll be experimenting with the new 1D X Mark II and EF 11-24mm f/4L USM wide-angle zoom. He often employs a monopod for extra stability and versatility, and wears kneepads for getting down low-angle perspectives. His filter of choice is a circular polarizer for enhancing the New Mexico blue skies when clouds are present.
