This is a special purpose version of the EOS 5Ds and has the same 50.6 million effective pixel CMOS sensor, but even greater initial sharpness and subject detail potential with the cancellation of the low-pass filter effect. Fine subject lines, details and texture will have slightly greater contrast and definition, in many instances, with less need for digital sharpening in software after the fact. New in-camera Picture Style controls mimic the familiar Unsharp Mask “radius” and “threshold” commands in programs like Adobe Photoshop™. With the removal of the low-pass filter effect, there is an increased risk of occasional false colors and/or moiré patterns in fabrics and similar repeating, fine subject details.

  • Identical to the EOS 5DS, except for added potential subject sharpness via cancellation of low-pass filter effect
  • Design and shooting experience similar to EOS 5D Mark III, from control layout and AF system to lens and flash compatibility
  • Special shake reduction technologies: mirror up/down now fully motor-controlled, stronger baseplate/tripod socket resists vibration and multiple Mirror Lock-up options (including user-controlled shutter delay after mirror rises from 1/8th to 2 seconds)
  • New features include Anti-flicker shooting (still images), built-in timers for Bulb and Interval shooting and new in-camera Time Lapse Movie feature
