This is the camera for the advanced user who prefers recording onto traditional Mini-DV tape, instead of file-based recording to memory cards. It's perfect for law enforcement, corporate users, and event shooters who may have archiving and workflow systems in-place for tape-based recording. A superb 20x Canon L-series HD lens is one highlight: equivalent to an incredible 32.5–650mm, with Image Stabilization. A 3-chip design, with three 1/3-inch sensors deliver up to 1440x1080 HD video resolution. Audio features include two XLR-type input sockets, for great sound quality with external microphones.

  • Excellent design and ergonomics, with wide range of customization possible to tailor camera to a user's preferences
  • LCD monitor and electronic eye-level viewfinder can be used at same time; 2.8-inch widescreen LCD monitor (207,000 dots) stows into camera’s body when not in use
  • Analog to digital converter – plug the XH A1S into a TV, VCR, or analog camcorder and convert their analog signals to digital for recording on Mini-DV tape
  • Sixteen different speeds for lens zooming, when using zoom control on camera's grip (also possible to zoom at variable speed with lens's zoom ring)
